Transition Era Secretary
Charming lady's secretary in rosewood, boxwood, beech, rosewood, tulipwood and walnut veneer. It opens with a drawer, a flap and two doors. The flap reveals a blackened wooden interior with four drawers, green leather top (used) edged with gilding. Important marquetry work: nets, checkerboards, flowers in spandrels, medallion with antique vase. Uprights with cut sides inlaid with grooves. Ornamentation of bronzes: falls, fleurons, keyholes with pearls, laurels and tied ribbons, friezes of pearls, leafy clogs, acanthus apron and dentils. Breccia marble top with reversed cavet.
