Riccardo Pellegrini, born in Milan in 1863, in addition to studying in Romantic Milan, attended both Rome and Naples, where he attended the lessons of Domenico Morelli. He traveled extensively throughout Europe, visiting countries such as England, France and Spain. Spain in particular was an important source of inspiration for his paintings of Spanish rural scenes but also for his work as an illustrator, where he created drawings for the main magazines of the time. He illustrated works such as “Don Quixote by Cervantes” and “Gil Blas” by Alain-René Lesage. His works are currently present in the museums of Novara, Berlin and Stuttgart.
