"Candy Box With Martin Varnish Portrait Miniature Nobility 18th Century 18th Century"
Interesting portrait box in Martin varnish with decoration on the lid of a miniature on ivory representing a young man with a wig, wearing a pink jacket, a blue waistcoat and a silk tie tied around his neck. Pomponne rim of the box and filling pattern made with Martin varnish. Base in papier-mâché on a red tortoiseshell background with black lacquer applied as an undercoat. The latter covered by a geometric decoration of coppery orange squares.
