French Empire Bookcase From The Early 19th Century In Solid Wood Veneered In Flamed Mahogany
Elegant and impressive French Empire bookcase from the early 19th century. The structure is fully demountable and features three doors framed by solid wood turned columns, adorned with finely chiseled gilt brass mounts.
Made of solid wood veneered in flamed mahogany, this piece stands out for its architectural proportions and refined Empire style: a projecting cornice, gently sloping central pediment, and original glass panels revealing a spacious interior—ideal for use as a bookcase or display cabinet.
Very good overall condition: the finish has a light natural yellowing, which can easily be refreshed with a gentle shellac and oil polish. The columns had a localized woodworm infestation, now fully treated and stabilized. Structurally sound and ready for use.
