"Sante Monachesi, Oil On Canvas, ‘city View’, Italy, 1955-65"
An oil on canvas made by Sante Monachesi, measuring 50x70 cm, in the years between 1955 and 1965.
Monachesi was an Italian painter and sculptor who founded the ‘Futurist Movement in Le Marche’ in 1932. This was the beginning of an intense period of artistic production. After the Futurist experience, he projected his research into figurative elaboration through broad colour planes and contour lines that characterised his painting in the 1940s and 1950s.
The painting in question shows a view of a cityscape created with large monochrome colour fields, spread with a spatula, and black lines delimiting the contours of the buildings.
There is the artist's signature at the bottom right of the painting: ‘MONACHESI’.
The state of conservation is good.
