Keman in copper-plated bronze cut, cast and gilded with mercury, with some remnants of gilding.
Decorated with lotus flowers and peonies bringing good luck and longevity.
Keman are hung in Japanese temples and replace bouquets of flowers.
Everything is symbolic including the central knot in high relief.
Superbe chiseling work of extreme finesse. Usually, Kemans are only decorated with flowers. Very beautiful chiseling, some remnants of gilding. Japan 19th century or probably earlier.
Good general condition.
The bells that were suspended from the small decorated rings are missing, of which three ornaments remain.
