Antique clock signed Samuel Marti & Cie, famous 19th century French clockmaker, recipient of the Bronze Medal at the Universal Exhibition. A very beautiful object from the Napoleon III period, with great potential after restoration. Technical details: Clockmaker: Samuel Marti & Cie Period: circa 1880 Signature: “S. Marti et Cie – Médaille de Bronze” engraved on the movement Movement: mechanical pendulum with bell strike Case: precious wood (probably mahogany) with base, feet and decorations in gilt bronze (ormolu) Dial: Roman numerals, Breguet hands Visible serial number: 4895 Included elements: pendulum, bell, original handle (dismantled) Condition: To be restored Complete and clean movement, but not tested (plan for a revision by a watchmaker) Decorative bronze handle to be reattached Wooden case with traces of wear and scratches (to be cleaned and waxed or revarnished) Beautiful gilding preserved on the bronze elements
