JAPAN - Edo period (1603 - 1868). Complete samurai armor all in suite. SAIGA type KABUTO in wrought iron. SHIKORO (neck cover) with three levels in black lacquered iron and blue silk braiding. MAEDATE in cut and openwork copper depicting Chinese characters. MEMPO (samurai half-mask) in wrought iron, pronounced chin, mobile nose, horsehair moustache and pierced nostrils, sweat hole under the chin. YODARE-KAKE (gorget) with three levels in wrought iron and blue silk braiding. DO (breastplate) with four wrought iron slats and blue silk braiding, it is decorated with bonjis (Sanskrit characters invoking Buddhist deities). TAKAHIMO in forged decorated with arrows. SODE (shoulder guards) with six degrees in black lacquered metal and blue, yellow and orange silk braiding. KOTE (arm guards) in chainmail, iron plates and yellow silk. KUSAZURI (skirt) and HAIDATE (cuissards) with five black lacquered rows and blue and orange silk braiding. SUNEATE (greaves) in iron plates and blue and orange silk braiding. Large Buddhist rosary slung over the shoulder, the beads in cinnabar red stained wood. Additional photos and details on request.
