André Thuret (1898-1965) is a French artist and chemist specializing in the creation of glass objects. Engineer at the glassworks of Bagneux and Bezons then occupying the chair of Chemistry applied to the Ceramics and Glass Industries at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers and Expert at the Court of Appeal of Paris, he divides his time between teaching, research and his artistic production. Drawing on his scientific expertise, he puts chemistry at the service of art and creates unique pieces according to his experiments around the shape, color and transparency of glass but also the reactions of metal oxides. He notably took part in the Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in 1925, the Salon d'Automne in 1928 and 1932, the “Verres et tapisseries” exhibition in New York in 1929-30 as well as the Exposition du Verre at the Pavillon de Marsan in 1951. In the 40s and 50s, he specialized in the creation of objects with smooth walls, initially transparent then with colored inclusions, like our bottle.
