Student of Édouard Detaille (1848-1912) and Étienne-Prosper Berne-Bellecour (1838-1910) at the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille, his hometown.
He lived between Paris, where he was also a student of Tony Robert-Fleury, and Marseille.
He is known for his paintings depicting military scenes, his portraits.
His search for Mediterranean light led him to paint numerous landscapes and seascapes in Provence.
He devoted himself to Provençal painting throughout the latter part of his life.
Several of his works are kept at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Marseille and the Musée Cantini.
