High quality miniature of Tsarina Maria Feodorovna (1759-1828), wife of Russian Emperor Paul I (1754-1801).
This miniature was created in the 19th century by an unknown artist after the portrait of Maria Feodorovna by Johann Baptist Lampi the Elder (1751 Trieste-1830 Vienna).
Tsarina Maria Feodorovna (1759-1828) wore a white dress with lace sleeves, with a miniature portrait of Emperor Paul I suspended from a diamond necklace, a red moiré ribbon and the star of the Russian Imperial Order of Saint Catherine.
Inscription: Signed indistinctly lower right, on the back of the paper cover: Maria Feodorovna.
Technique: Watercolor on ivory, original black lacquered wooden frame with bronze inner oval.
Dimensions: Unframed: 7 x 8.7 cm, Framed: 9.1 x 11.8 cm.
