Jean Timmermans, 1899-1986, Belgian painter of genre, figures, nudes, seascapes and landscapes. Watercolorist. He was a student at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. He exhibited since 1939 and was part of the “Orientation” group between 1940 and 1945. He contributed to the founding of the Sea Painters group. He was a professor at the Woluwe-Saint-Pierre School of Arts. An expressionist at the beginning, his palette has lightened over the years. Primarily a watercolorist, he describes the landscapes and seascapes of the regions he has traveled. Using a few clear colors, he evokes, in the manner of Raoul Dufy, both the breadth and intimacy of landscapes. He has created a graphic style that is quick to capture the animation of life. Works in the Museums of Antwerp, Brussels, Buenos Aires, Ixelles, and Ostend. Artist listed in Bénézit (with example of signature), Arto and Piron, listed on Artprice, Artnet, Akoun, etc...
