Calais 1715-1725, Antoine Willems, Tastevin, Solid Silver, Wine Taster
Extremely rare wine taster with the Calais hallmark, perhaps the only one known.
Three hallmarks are visible, only one of which is clearly legible: the first master goldsmith hallmark of Antoine Willems, goldsmith in Calais from 1715 to 1755: crowned A and W, separated by a grain surmounting a fleur-de-lis.
In the center of the tastevin is a slightly faded engraving representing vine leaves and bunches of grapes.
The object is rather heavy for its size (125 grams).
On the outer edge is engraved the name "F. Châtillon" and the year 1722.
