In the first, a family is gathered around the fireplace, a man plays with a young child sitting on his mother's lap, he amuses him with a puppet while an older child watches him, holding in his hand a string connected to a small horse on wheels.
In the second canvas, the same family is this time in the entrance, the man sitting on a chair next to his wife sitting on her knees, holding out her arms to the young child who is taking his first steps towards her. A dog is this time present with them.
Both canvases are signed Rinaldi at the bottom right.
The two paintings are set in beautiful old frames styles Barbizons in wood and stucco gilded to the leaf.
Francesco Rinaldi is an Italian painter, born in 1786 and died in 1830.
