"Empire Candlesticks Incense Burners C. 1810"
An exceptional pair of mercury-gilt bronze candlesticks, shaped like classical urns resting on square bases. The ensemble is finely crafted in matte and burnished gilt bronze, creating an elegant contrast. The decoration includes ram's heads, laurel wreaths, relief medallions, and classical attributes, all characteristic of the nascent Empire style under Napoleon. The removable lids, each surmounted by a stylized flame, indicate an original function as incense burners. They can, however, be used today as sculptural candlesticks. A rare set, with a strong architectural presence and museum-quality. Height: 37 cm | Ø 13 cm France, circa 1810
