"Pair Of Cassolettes With Egyptian Figures – France, 19th Century"
An elegant pair of finely executed gilt and patinated bronze cassolettes or potpourri vases, combined with cut crystal. Each piece rests on a triangular base with claw feet, decorated with profiled moldings, and surmounted by three Egyptian-style figures in dark patinated bronze with gilt detailing. The figures support a removable crystal bowl, deeply cut in a diamond pattern and encircled by finely chased gilt bronze mounts. The quality of the bronze work, the depth of the decorative reliefs, and the restrained yet monumental composition are characteristic of the fine French decorative arts of the first half of the 19th century. The underside has a traditional construction with a central screw fixing, indicating handcrafted assembly.
