"Raymond Grandjean (1929-2006), Composition In Colors, Gouache On Paper, Signed; Dated 53"
Raymond Grandjean began painting in the 1940s. His first collective exhibition was in Lyon from March 19 to April 8, 1948 at the Foyer des artistes (Place des Terreaux). His first solo exhibition took place in 1955 in Paris at the Colette Allendy gallery. In 1961, he exhibited at the Paris Biennale. In 1964, he exhibited at the 50 Years of Collages exhibition at the Saint-Étienne Museum and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He created very geometric and colorful gouaches like this one, close to the work of Klee. The gouache shows two traces of wetness that do not alter the drawing or the colors of the work.
