Large natural oak sculpture representing Saint Vulfran, patron saint of boatmen and navigators. Another spelling suggests Wulfram. Cult developed in Normandy and Picardy (St Vulfran collegiate church in Abbeville) Presented standing holding a gospel (evangelized Friesland in the 7th century) At his feet a small ship commanded by the demon (whose head has disappeared) Essentially monoxyle sculpture, presenting a beautiful pleat of the garment. Norman or Picard work from the end of the 17th - beginning of the 18th century
