The work is signed lower right. On the back, the work is located ("Jura River"), and we can also see the painter's stamp. The work is placed under glass and passepartout, in a modern gilded wood frame, also in excellent condition.
This painting was painted by Emile Wegelin, a Lyon painter known for his landscapes, done in gouache or oil. He was fond of mountainous landscapes and rivers. Before taking up painting, Emile Wegelin was a top-flight rower, winning a silver medal at the 1900 Olympic Games in Paris in the coxed four event.
