Van Goyen Follower Of - Boats On The River - Oil On Panel
Artist: Suiveur De Van Goyen (1596 – 1656, Pays-bas)
Oil on panel made by a follower of Van Goyen, a Dutch painter of the 17th century.
A dendrochronology was carried out on the oak panel, which did not allow it to be dated, since the number of rings visible in the board is not sufficient. It is possible that we are dealing with a reuse.
Description:
Two boats pass in front of a village and a chapel perched on a promontory. In the boats, we see silhouettes of men wearing hats and cattle. The sky is cloudy, tormented.
The work is clean and in good condition. However, we note scratches on the edges due to a previous framing and repainting in the sky. It is offered in a beautiful old frame (19th century) of carved wood in the classical Dutch style, in very good condition.
