Philipp Peter Roos (later Rosa di Tivoli; 1655–1706) was a German Baroque painter, active in and around Rome from 1677.
In 1691, he returned to Rome, where he was one of the Bentvueghels painters of the Schildersbent, a group of painters from the Low Countries. He was nicknamed "Mercurius" because of the speed with which he painted; Mercury was the swift messenger of Zeus. The Schildersbents were often refused official commissions and had to struggle to survive. Roos often paid for his room and board with paintings. He earned his living by making small paintings and sketches for tourists. He died in poverty.
