This landscape measures 64cm x 72cm, (72cm x 80cm with its inverted profile gilded wooden frame). Sold with a certificate of authenticity. This painting, animated by characters, represents a view of the Forum Boarium in Rome. This forum is located in ancient Rome, near the Tiber in the Velabre district, between the Capitoline hills to the north, the Palatine to the east and the Aventine to the south. The painting is attributed to the painter Jean-Baptiste Lallemand (1716-1803). This painter born in Dijon in 1716, died in Paris in 1803, is an etching engraver and painter of genre, history, seascapes and French landscapes. The painting must date from 1747, during a trip to Rome made by the artist.
