A full-length portrait of King George I standing in his state robes, his hand resting on the globe on the table, with the crown and sceptre. It shows the east end of Westminster Abbey and, beyond, St. Stephen's Chapel. This portrait is based on the official portrait of the king painted by Kneller in 1715. The finest version, presented to Sir Robert Walpole and now in Houghton, was described by Horace Walpole as 'the only picture for which he sat in England'. Provenance: Historic House.
