Biography

Born in Rome on January 1, 1944, Giusto Puri Purini began his career, even before graduating in architecture in Venice, as a set designer for some of Roberto Rossellini’s TV films, including “The Acts of the Apostles” and “Socrates”. He then worked as project manager for Vivai Del Sud from 1972 to 1977 for Piero, Giorgio and Gianfranco Di Pierri, one of Rome’s leading designers.

He was the protagonist of a long collaboration with architects Gepy and Maurizio Mariani, and in 1978 founded the Puri Purini architecture studio, with which he promotes the image of Italian design and architecture worldwide.

Story

Brothers Giorgio, Gianfranco and Piero di Pierri founded Vivai del Sud in Rome in 1950. Initially established as a landscaping company, they designed modern winter gardens throughout Italy and restored historic parks. Building on this success, Vivai del Sud expanded in 1970 to focus on interior and furniture design.

Hailing from Italy’s Puglia region, the brothers were inspired by Italian Baroque artists and Roman architecture, using classical themes and mythological motifs in their furniture designs. Vivai del Sud built an international following for its inimitable pieces, opening branches in Italy, France, Germany, the United Arab Emirates and West Africa.

Vivai del Sud then added architectural design to its practice, conceiving luxury hotels as well as residential buildings.Vivai del Sud’s work has received international acclaim and has been featured in Domus, Casa Vogue and other major publications.
