Chassepot Infantry Rifle Model 1866
Chassepot rifle model 1866 reconditioned by the Manufacture of Chatellerault in 1872. After the defeat of 1870 most of the stocks of Chassepot rifles were seized by Prussia. We had to recover the defective and damaged parts that were taken back by the Manufactures to replenish our stocks. This rifle is therefore part of this reconditioning. Most of these were then transformed into the Gras system to continue their career. This one has not undergone the Gras 1874 modification which makes it a relatively rare piece. Condition: Very good general condition No play Perfectly functional mechanism with its needle. Very beautiful barrel with deep rifling and mirrors, new condition
