C.Lazarus & Cie: Charles Lazarus was born in 1823 in Wales and joined his brother Benjamin in Calcutta in 1838. Together, they established a joinery business composed of talented craftsmen that enjoyed great success in the mid-19th century. Their company prospered, particularly after the acquisition of Shearwood & Co., which specialized in billiard tables. Charles Lazarus died in 1881, leaving a thriving business continued by his sons who changed their surname to Lamour, but retained the C.
