France
Rare textile document in French Indienne probably from the Manufacture Royale de Jouy-en-Josas directed by Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf who excelled in this field. Very fine Siamese (cotton linen) with wide stripes on a picoted background dotted with quincunx flowers. Finer goose-poop colored stripes where we can see the traces of the wooden block to print. This textile never saw the light of day and we can therefore visualize the liveliness of the original colors that made the success of the Indiennes in the 18th century. Piece made up of two strips sewn from the period. No defects. Very good condition of color and preservation.
