An elegant and unusually large porcelain trinket box attributed to Samson, Paris, circa 1850. Finely decorated in the style of Louis XV period Sèvres, with rococo scrolls, hand-painted birds, ribbons, butterflies, and a fruit-filled urn on the lid. The gilt-metal mount is original and closes firmly. Interior is glazed white.
Underside bears Samson's distinctive mark — a blue pseudo-"A" monogram above "K".
Comparable boxes are held at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, and a related model is illustrated in G. de Bellaigue’s Les Samson (1980), plate 45 — a stylistically similar piece, though not identical to the present example.
Size: 5 cm tall, 12.5 cm long, 4.1 cm wide. Weight: 160 g.
Condition: Excellent with no restoration. Some minor gold wear to bezel and small metal-porcelain gap on one side. Opens and closes properly.
