Consecrated Chalice – Maison Memery – Circa 1940
This chalice belonged to Abbot Robert Juron (born in 1919), who officiated in various parishes in the Rhône region, in Sainte Foy-les-Lyon, Mornant, and Saint Martin-en-Haut.
The chalice and paten are made of solid silver. The work of the Lyonnais silversmith Memery et Cie, a Lyonnais craftsman established in 1930.
In its original case, it contains its consecration certificate from June 1943, signed by Monsignor Bechetoille, Vicar General. Structured around an imposing knot with a relief decoration of thorns, this chalice was the receptacle of transubstantiation, this great Christian Mystery that is constantly renewed.
The diameter of its base, like that of the paten, refers us to the apostles with its 12 cm. Height 15 cm – 850 grams with paten.
The paten is also silver with some dents, its Latin phrase is an invitation: "and I will make us all a single sacrifice with Christ" Reference 155
