A large, highly decorative clock from the Art Deco period of the early 20th century. A large polychrome spelter sculpture depicting an elegant nymph in a stylized natural setting. Using a quill pen on a book, she writes the memorials of history and the fine arts, her face facing Olympus. The base is solid and round in red griotte marble.

White enamel dial with finely crafted hands, protected by domed glass.

Stamped by the sculptor "P. Serres," Provin Serres, born in 1840, was a close student of Mathurin Moreau, exhibited at the Salon from 1879 to 1902, and became a Member of the Association of French Artists in 1893.

Original mechanism without modification, striking the hours and half-hours on an antique bell.
