"Pair Of Japanese Works On Paper – Koi Carp, Ink And Artist's Seal"
Superb pair of Japanese compositions on paper depicting koi carp swimming among the clouds, traditional symbols of strength, courage and perseverance in Japanese culture. Executed in a refined monochrome wash, these poetic scenes delicately blend black ink and subtle gradations. The upper part of each work is enhanced with cursive calligraphy accompanied by a red stamp (hanko), a seal authenticating the artist's hand. Japanese work from the mid-20th century (circa 1950-1970). Simple and elegant period wooden frame. Very good general condition, some tiny marks of time. Dimensions (including frames): 36x53cm
