Sino-japanese Military War Print
Artist: Teukata Ikeda (1883-1921 )
This print is called "our troops occupy the phoenix castle, a great victory for the Japanese army, banzai" executed by Teukata Ikeda (1883-1921) in 1904. It was made during the invasion of China by Japanese troops.
This print should be a triptych but only one part is represented but in very good condition with all the seals and signature of the artist. There is also in English/German "japanese army capturing feinhunche" which means the Japanese army captured "the good chicken" in reference to the phoenix castle.
The image is that of the Chinese troops who lost, the other parts are the Japanese troops, this is a very beautiful historical testimony of the conflicts of the beginning of the 20th century in Asia. This war took place between 1894-1895 with the invasion of Manchuria by Japan and its victory by the Treaty of Shimonoseki.
