This is Ichikawa Ichizo I in the role of Fujikawa Mizuemon. He stands with a saber and confronts a snake on a go game board. This print celebrates the performance entitled “Kameyama zome yomikiri koshaku”, played at the Nakamura-za in the 4th month of 1812.

Note a central fold in the middle of the sheet, another at the level of the snake; and some foxing on the edges of the sheet.
