"Rare Engraved Boundary Stone – 18th Century"
Beautiful and authentic limestone boundary stone, probably from the 18th century, engraved with a large central cross and several sets of initials on each side. It is most likely a rural boundary stone, used to mark the boundaries between properties or seigneurial territories. The symbolic cross in the central position testifies to a marking that is both legal and symbolic, sometimes sacralized in certain regions. The visible initials (IS, BT, HT, BIS, etc.) probably correspond to the names of the owners or entities concerned. Natural wear of time, old patina and well-preserved surface. Rare and decorative piece. Period: 18th century Dimensions: 37x30x16 cm Provenance: Rural France Condition: Good original condition, clear engraving Provenance: private collection Shipping possible or collection by appointment.
