"The Painter Pippo Rizzo, (corleone 1897- Palermo 1964) At The Age Of 26."
The painter Pippo Rizzo, (Corleone 1897- Palermo 1964), among the most interesting painters of Italian futurism and certainly the most important in Sicily, painted in 1923, at the age of 26, this large scene measuring one meter by two, in which he and his wife, frontally, watch a game of cards between the painter's father and a man with a hat. Probably a scene that took place in the old father's restaurant. The painting is full of atmosphere and harks back to Expressionist painting, even though that genre was so far from the Sicilian context. In any case, a 'strong' painting that anticipates the success of the painter, today a highly sought-after futurist.
