"Carnelian And Silver-gilt Seal. "
This beautiful and important agate-carnelian seal is mounted in silver gilt, it is enhanced with white and black enamel, partly worn, it is set with garnets and turquoises. The mount, openwork with arabesques, presents soldiers in armor inside reserves. In Renaissance style, this very refined object, like a jewel, is probably Austro-Hungarian and dates from the middle of the 19th century. The seal presents under a count's crown, the bust of a man in armor above an owl perched on a branch. Mid-19th century. Height 11.5 cm.
