Circa 1680-1720 Spain Precious canopy bed skirt in fluted French faille, brocaded and silver-lamé with pink and green floral garlands, from a Spanish castle. Four appliquéd cord trimmings in red silk and gold thread highlighted with magenta ribbons, adorn the four corners of the canopy. The lining, partially unstitched, is in cardinal red silk taffeta. Patina of age and delicious mending - stoppages and some small worn areas. Perfect for restructuring into cushions or for historical decoration. Stable condition and beautiful changing colors of the silver-laminated silk. 17th century textiles being so rare and poorly preserved!
