The reliquary arm is a liturgical object designed to contain and display a relic, typically a bone fragment or an object associated with a saint. This particular piece is carved in the round from pearwood. Once gilded, it still bears traces of its original gilding.
The end of the forearm is hollowed out to house the relic.
A fine example of craftsmanship for this type of object.
The piece is in good overall condition, though some shrinkage of the wood has caused visible cracks.
