Painted Cup With Black And Red Abstract Patterns And Chinese Characters, Han Dynasty
The shape of this cup is generally that of Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD) lacquerware, but this one, made of terracotta, is extremely rare. It is decorated with black pigments on a red background and abstract patterns. More importantly, three clear Chinese characters in the center indicate that this cup was used to serve wine.
