Susse Frères Et Guénardeau Art Nouveau Gilt Bronze Photo Frame With Laurel Decor

Splendid photo frame under glass in gilt bronze very finely chiseled with laurel branches in high relief and decorated with scattered foliage motifs and pediment. The protective glass has a large bevel which forms at the left corner like three hollow petals! A work of high quality, both refined and original! Double signed by Guénardeau, Sculptor and Susse Frères publisher. A window at the back of the frame allows the installation of the photo behind the glass. It is hung on the wall by means of its suspension ring. The frame is of very beautiful craftsmanship, in gilt bronze and not in brass, like many photo frames of this period and yet announced as bronze. Admire particularly the laurel branches which appear naturally in important relief with the appearance of branches of leaves in motion and not frozen as they are commonly. I decorated it with an old sheet of hand-marbled paper for bookbinding. Lovely with its multitude of mixed colors! Period second half of the 19th century.
