"François Boisrond: Gouache On Paper Mounted On Panel"
This large-format triptych is a significant work from François Boisrond's mature period. Through the expressive force of the central motif (masked face) and the graphic tension of the lateral elements, the work perfectly illustrates the artist's aesthetic concerns at the dawn of the 1990s: introspection, fragmentation of visual language, and appropriation of the codes of popular culture. The gouache, applied with energy, retains all its mattness and freshness, accentuating the immediate visual impact. The use of paper mounted on a panel demonstrates a concern for museum presentation, while preserving the spontaneity of the drawing. This work was exhibited on the occasion of the Contemporary French Painters event, held at Artis Monte-Carlo (1, impasse de la Fontaine, Monaco), between April 11 and June 16, 1990. It testifies to the institutional recognition of François Boisrond at the turn of the 1990s, a period when his language asserted itself with greater symbolic density.
