"Soup Ladder In Solid Silver And Cut Crystal, By Hénin & Cie, Late 19th – Early 20th Century"
Soup tureen in solid silver and cut crystal, by Hénin & Cie, late 19th - early 20th century Elegant Louis XV style soup tureen in cut crystal with twisted decoration and solid silver mount, signed by the prestigious Parisian silversmith Hénin & Cie (lozenge hallmark with the initials H and a cross). The crystal, finely cut in a refined helical motif, is perfectly highlighted by a 950 thousandths silver mount richly decorated with chiseled ribbed foliage. The openwork head, curved in shape and with a flower bud-shaped grip, screws perfectly. The molded base rests on a circular base decorated with gadroons and a leafy frieze matching the border. The contrast between the clarity of the crystal and the brilliance of the silver produces a visual effect of great decorative quality. The model, both functional and ornamental, demonstrates the expertise of Parisian goldsmiths of the Belle Époque, particularly appreciated for refined tableware.
