- Mixed media on canvas. - Johannes Wilhelmus Maria Birker, born in Tilburg in 1935, attended the forerunner of the Academy of Visual Education and then the National Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp from 1952 to 1955. In 1959, he created a large mural in Tilburg's first nightclub, Campione, on the former Koningstraat. His painting and drawing evolved from figurative to abstract, including expressionism. She received several awards, such as the Tétar van Elven (1955), the Thérèse van Duyl-Schwartze (1960), and the Sinjoren of the city of Antwerp. Birker stayed regularly in this city, but also traveled to Italy, Sweden, and Spain. In 1961, he moved to Spain, which earned him the nickname "Spanish Brabander." From then on, he became a well-known and productive painter of subjects.
