Watercolor on paper "Sampans on the Yangtze River" bears a monogram in Latin characters in a Chinese-style cartouche at the bottom right to be determined. Foreign school (perhaps English?) 12.5 X 18 cm at sight. Our watercolor was produced by a traveling painter who followed a fashion initiated by artists such as Auguste Borget (1808-1877) from Issoldin or one of his British counterparts. Modern mahogany veneered wood frame. Good condition. 480 euros.
