Tulip-shaped silver chalice with embossed, chased, and guilloché decoration. The chalice rests on a circular base, profiled in an ogee pattern, decorated with three rosettes on the slope of the base. The domed base, highlighted by a frieze of water leaves, is adorned with Eucharistic symbols: vine, bunch of wheat, rush, and palm leaves; a Jerusalem cross completes this ornamentation.
The stem is composed of rings and collars decorated with friezes of rosaries, as well as an inverted pear-shaped knot, adorned with the same decoration as that of the base. The cup, straight and slightly flared in its upper part, is smooth and entirely gilded.
950/1000 silver. Hallmarks: – Old man's head (1819–1838), present on the base and the cup – Paris guarantee hallmark This chalice is the work of Parisian silversmith François-Joseph Bertrand-Paraud.

Condition: – Chalice: perfect condition, without dents, scratches, or deformation. The cup has recently received an additional layer of gilding – Paten: very good condition, with some signs of use. Note: A chalice of the same model, made by the same goldsmith, is preserved in the sacristy of the Old Chapter of Meaux Cathedral (France).
François-Joseph Bertrand-Paraud, a neoclassical-style goldsmith, inscribed his mark in 1817. He worked for Louis XVIII as well as for Mgr de Pons, the first Bishop of Moulins. Reference: Dictionary of Liturgical Arts (19th–20th Centuries), p. 121, ISBN 2-85917-215-7.
