A beautiful watercolor on paper signed by Malagasy painter Alphonse Rakotovao.
It is dated 1938.
The artist’s works are rare on the market.
As is often the case with Malagasy painters, the watercolor is of very high quality and hyper-realistic.
It depicts an elderly Betsileo man in traditional clothing.
The piece is in good condition, though there is a moisture stain in the lower left corner (see photo).
It is protected under glass and comes with a gilded frame (fragile, with a small missing piece on the back).

Framed dimensions: 42 x 32 cm
