Anthropomorphic mask with a grimacing face - Nepal, mid-hills, 19th-early 20th century Enigmatic face with an apparent smile. On the forehead are engraved a Swastika, a trishula and a petaled flower. In Nepal, geographically and culturally influenced by Buddhist Tibet and Hindu India, it is common to see Buddhist and Hindu symbols mixed in folk art. Here, it is possible that this mask is a mask used to mock men of religion.
