Orientalist Terracotta Sculpture, Young Nude Woman Revealing A Basket Of Fruit, Signed Cosy

This beautiful terracotta sconce or alcove sculpture depicts a young nude oriental woman in a charming swaying posture.
The young creature is carnal, voluptuous, her hair covered with a rich fabric, she wears jewels of rings in necklace and pendants of ears, she raises an arm above her head lifting a fabric to thus reveal us a greedy basket charged with suggestive fruits; an invitation to come to relish these or ‘its’ good delicious fruits; that could well be of a very erotic character, but free to each one to see there what the scupteur wished to communicate to us.
This sculpture bears the signature COSY on the terrace, and the word ‘déposé’ accompanied by a number is incised into the clay on the reverse, among other marks that are difficult to decipher.
