This set of high-quality gilt bronze candlesticks was made by Ferdinand Barbedienne (Saint-Martin-du-Fresnay, 1810 - 1892) was a French entrepreneur and founder of an industrial bronze foundry.

Dimension standing candlestick 0.73m height and 0.41m width
Dimension wall sconces 0.70m height and 0.39m width

Barbedienne was originally from Calvados but moved to Paris at a young age to learn a trade. In 1834, he met Achille Collas, who had developed a process for reducing and reproducing a sculpture or bas-relief proportionally. Together, they founded a company to exploit this patented process, which became world-renowned during the 19th century. The company contributed, among other things, to the dissemination and promotion of the works of Antoine-Louis Barye and Auguste Rodin.
