A bit of history: The "Vengeur du Peuple" or "Marseillois" is a French warship in service from 1766 to 1794. A third-rate ship of the line, it carried 74 cannons on two decks. It was launched in the period of patriotic upheaval following the defeats of the Seven Years' War. It participated in the American War of Independence, but is best known for its loss at the Battle of Prairial in 1794, in circumstances that revolutionary propaganda glorified (Ref.: Wikipedia)
